At our recent meeting our guest speaker, Harriet Caldwell, shared her remarkable story about how at the age of 13 as an active sports enthusiast she suffered a spinal cord stroke.  This initially came with the devastating news that Harriett would never walk again.  Now, two and a half years later Harriet has made astonishing progress and is passionately pursuing a career in wheelchair basketball.

Harriet's inspirational, passionate and, at times, very raw account of the life changing experience left those in the room astonished at her resilience and unbelievable mental strength to deal with the challenges.  Harriett's comment about 'things happen for a reason', something that you wouldn't hear all that often from someone her age, was representative of the approach that she has taken.

Thank you to Harriett for sharing this stage of her life with us, and a thank you and special mention to Tim, Harriett's dad, for sharing with us the dedication and commitment from the family to ensure that the best outcomes possible are achieved.
