President's Quick Update

Another busy week for our club, with further development of our Friends of Rotary initiative, preparations for Australia Day and the Great Victorian Bike Ride, and progress on our new BBQ trailer. Discussions with Council are also continuing regarding the Lake Neangar defibrillator.

Thanks to everyone contributing their time, both at our activities and behind the scenes.

Combined Club Foundation Dinner

With our meeting moved from Wednesday 28th to Tuesday 27th, our members had the opportunity to share a dinner and fellowship with many Rotarians from the other local rotary clubs.  A great dinner at the Bendigo Club; our thanks to the organisers, the Rotary Club of Bendigo.  The guest speaker on the evening was Past District Governor Julie Mason.  Julie presented an historical summary of Polio and its effects over the years.  For many of us, this was an eye-opener, realising that Polio was recognized by the medical profession more than 100 years before Rotary took the initiative and began the massive campaign for eradication.  We aren't finished yet, but it is such a long way from where we began; it is definitely worth the effort to continue to ensure it is wiped out for the benefit of all future generations.

Christmas Trailer Raffle

Another willing volunteer on the job selling the raffle tickets for our combined clubs Christmas Trailer Raffle.  Brenda is representing the local Wildlife Rescue Organisation and the two Jenny's are enjoying their selling stint on Friday representing the Women Of Note organisation.  Well done to all volunteers who are participating in the ticket sales.

The trailer can be found around the various shopping centres from now until Christmas, or ask your favourite Rotarian from either Bendigo South or Eaglehawk Rotary Clubs, they have all been issued tickets and would love to help you out with a sale - or two!

We were recently asked where the trailer will be on display between now until Christmas - so here is a list -

Maiden Gully IGA, Aldi Eagleahwk, Leisure Festival, Market Place, Maiden Gully Coles and Lansell Square
