Lindsay and Marg celebrated their wedding anniversary last week. They attended the Karen Water Festival. The hall was full, and food was delivered straight into their hands. John Pearce was the MC along with Pan Sain as co-MC and her sister Say Htoo who are both from the Karen community. Both girls were sponsored by our club to attend the RYPEN program recently. Pan Sain as MC spoke in the Karen language, while John gave the English interpretation of her speech. At the end of the address all Rotarians present were called up on stage to dance with the Karen dancing group. After leaving the festival Lindsay and Marg went to the Bennett Street Cafe in Long Gully, where they had a very nice meal while listening to some great music. In the evening to round everything off, they went to Porchelli’s for an evening meal.
Mick gave his thanks for all the support for the great camping swap mate thing. They will now be a consideration on whether to make any changes or what are the things might occur for next year. At this stage results are not confirmed. However, the meeting ran at a profit.
