President's Quick Update -

Our first international restaurant night at Borchelli’s Ristorante was a great success. The food was excellent, the company even better, and a few cheeky members managed to fit in some fellowship at Herbie’s Café/City Family Hotel before heading to the main event.

Thanks to Geoff Adcock for a lively quiz on anything and everything Italian.

Reminders and Updates

  • Members should now have a copy of the Australia Day Planning document. Please have a look through it and, if you’re able to help with any of the activities, let us know.

  •

  • Thanks to everyone who has donated items or $20 towards the Mums & Bubs Bags. We still need more cash donations or items from the list. The Board will match donations dollar for dollar, at least up to $240. Great effort, everyone.

  •

  • Due to new insurance requirements, please remember to sign the attendance diary whenever helping at the bookshop or at Club activities such as car parking and barbecues.

  •

  • Know someone who would be a good candidate for Eaglehawk’s 2027 Citizen of the Year or Young Citizen of the Year? Let a Board member kno,w and we can provide a nomination form.

  •

  • Thanks to everyone who helped make Wednesday’s Blue Light barbecue at the Skate Park possible. It’s a very worthwhile community event and great to see the Club supporting it.

  •

  • John Jones has sent out an email looking for volunteers for Vegecareian Festival – Great Stupa car parking, Christmas Raffle duties, and the Bunnings Barbecue on Sunday, 11 October. If you haven’t already replied, please let him know when you’re available.

See you all this coming Wednesday at the Club Rooms.  We have a special guest speaker this week, Mark Wagland, the Salvation Army’s Prison Chaplain. It should be a very interesting evening.

A different flavour for our International Program

Our thanks to International Director, PP John Jones, for introducing our members to a new way of travelling the world.  The International Program this year will include nights at many of the local restaurants as Bendigo has an abundance of excellent eateries providing an amazing array of cuisines from around the world - so John's idea is that we can experience as many as possible over the next few months.  If last night was anything to go by, this is going to be a lot of fun and a fantastic way for us to gather socially.

Kicking off at Borchelli's in Mitchell Street was the best introduction; who doesn't like Italian, after all!  Our thanks to Geoff A for providing an Italian themed quiz - not sure the other diners knew what was going on - but we all had fun!  And to the member who may have asked for more aussie based questions - hopefully you've caught on by now.  Perhaps some members enjoyed the refreshments just a little more than others!

A great night - we are all looking forward to the next one.

Great Stupa Car Parking

Once again our club provided the car parking for the Great Stupa event.  This has long been an opportunity for us to get out into the community and provide assistance to the Great Stupa - a great partnership and this event provided the ideal opportunity for our club to contribute to the Nepal Flood Appeal.
